AN AMPUTEE RESCUE DOG THAT WAS SCHEDULED TO BE PUT DOWN THANKS TO THE USE OF PROSTHETIC PAWS WAS ABLE TO LIVE.
Every animal is beautiful and deserves to survive. Some creatures are unique and require particular care. Although their limitations might be the grounds for their euthanasia by some, there are many caring individuals working to guarantee that every animal gets a chance to live. They believe that every creature has a right to exist and should not be put down simply because they are different.
This dog, who had lost her paws due to mistreatment, was ready to be killed. However, she was spared and given a gift that allowed her to regain her footing. This act of kindness not only saved this dog’s life but also gave her the ability to walk again.
Monika, a dog, was discovered last December in the Russian hamlet of Plastunovskaya. The dog had gone through a lot and as a result, her paws were seriously wounded. Amputation was, unfortunately, necessary in order to save her life.
Marina Gapich and Alla Leonkina, volunteers for a local animal rescue service, took in an injured dog they found on the side of the road. They were sad to hear from the specialists they took him to that the most humane option would be to put him down, but they were opposed to that idea. Marina said that as far as she and Alla were concerned, the dog was under their care and they would do whatever they could for him.
Sergei Gorshkov, a veterinarian who specialized in prosthetics, was found by the rescuers. The rescuers gathered roughly 400,000 Russian rubles (approximately $5400) to assist Monika in obtaining new legs.
The veterinarian had never made prosthetic paws for a dog before, but he willingly accepted the assignment. The paws were manufactured out of titanium and coated at Tomsk Polytechnic University.
After the new paws were made, Monika’s replacement paws were surgically installed. At first, everyone was doubtful about the dog’s ability to adjust to her new prosthesis. However, after a few days of getting used to them, she was running and playing just like before.
When Monika arrived at the center, she was met with a lot of skepticism. No one thought that she would be able to adjust to her new paws so quickly, but Sergei always had faith in her. On the third day, she began getting up and moving around the facility, much to everyone’s amazement.
The veterinarian was happy that he had saved the life of an animal. It’s amazing how miracles like these may occur when people don’t give up on animals. The dog was on the edge of being put down, but thanks to the efforts of the rescue volunteers and the veterinarian, his life was saved. The veterinarian said that it is a miracle that the dog is alive and well today. He credits the rescue volunteers for their hard work in getting the dog the help he needed and also praised them for never giving up on him.
