In February, a bust on a cockfighting ring in Watsonville led to the rescue of 175 birds and 12 dogs by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter. The shelter reported that the older dogs were discovered in the property’s back with unclean water, while Elsa, one of the rescued dogs, was tied up in an isolated area.
Elsa was found with skin issues and has since been receiving treatment, including medicated baths, flea and tick medication, and antibiotics.
Fortunately, the six-year-old German Shepherd has made significant progress, gaining weight and regaining her fur. Elsa is now seeking a forever home where she can receive continued medical attention.
According to the shelter, Elsa is friendly with other dogs and has a gentle, calm demeanor.
