A COUPLE MAKES A HUGE BED FOR THEIR EIGHT RESCUED DOGS SO THEY CAN ALL SLEEP TOGETHER!
We love our dogs like family, so why not give them the best of everything—including a cozy bed to sleep on? In fact, research shows that women actually sleep better next to dogs than they do next to humans! Dog owners tend to sleep more soundly and for longer periods of time than those who don’t share their bed with a four-legged friend. So if you’re looking for a way to get a better night’s sleep, consider snuggling up with your pup!
If you have multiple dogs, it can be difficult to find a place to sleep comfortably because your bed only allows for so much room. For Chris and Mariesa Hughes, sleeping became a struggle because they slept with not just one dog, but eight rescue dogs!
After a lot of thought and consideration, they finally came up with a plan that would allow all of their dogs to sleep on the bed without any of them getting kicked off. It was a genius idea and it worked perfectly.
The couple from Clifton Park, New York hired Mike Ford, a local furniture maker who loves dogs, to construct the bed they had always dreamed of – an enormous “mega-bed” that took six months to build. This bed is even bigger than it appears, as it has two mattresses combined. The couple and their dogs are now finally able to enjoy restful nights of sleep in luxury and comfort.
The bed has a king-size mattress on top with a full-size mattress sideways below it. The headboard is six feet tall and has cute hand-carved paw prints. The bed also has side drawers for storage and built-in stairs to help the older dogs get onto it. This bed is perfect for larger families or those who have multiple pets.
The Hughes’ are the founders of “The Mr. Mo Project,” a non-profit organization that helps place elderly and sick shelter dogs to love homes. They are such wonderful people who are doing an amazing job!
